The Pastor

Dr. David McKenzie was born in Georgetown, Guyana.  After serving as a lay preacher and church elder, he accepted the call to pastoral ministry and matriculated at the current University of the Southern Caribbean (then, CUC) where he pursued a BA in Theology.  Upon completion of his course of study, he returned to his native land where he served as pastor of four different districts (largest district - 14 churches), and a television evangelist.

With a thirst for knowledge, he later attended Andrews University.  There he acquired a Masters in Divinity Equivalent degree, a Masters in Counseling and a Doctor of Ministry degree.

He is married to Bernice Quashie of Trinidad and Tobago, and their full quiver comprises two children Nathanael and Nyah.  He espouses competent, innovative leadership; loves preaching the gospel; has a burden for souls; predicates his life on God; and has as his goal ‘to enlarge the Kingdom of heaven’.

As an ordained minister of religion, Dr. McKenzie currently serves as pastor of the Lighthouse Tabernacle SDA Church, Brooklyn, New York and provides counseling on Tuesdays (BY APPOINTMENT ONLY).

The Lighthouse Tabernacle SDA church enjoys fellowship with a wonderful mixture of members and friends from different Caribbean islands and countries around the world, including the USA. Accordingly, our doors are always opened for people of all races, ethnicity and nationalities to feel welcomed. Our church bases its teachings, beliefs, doctrines, and fellowship approach on the Holy Bible. Thus, our goal is to ensure that everyone in our community and those with whom we interact find comfort and salvation in our soon coming King, Jesus Christ. 

If I could preach only one sermon, it would be this: God loves you - no matter who you are, or where you're from. No one is outside of the love of God. This is the good news we declare at the Lighthouse Tabernacle - we do distinguish ourselves as a lighthouse on a hillside, illuminating the pathway to heaven.

So whether you are a long-time resident or are new to New York City, I hope you will accept our invitation to join with us in worship, fellowship and service.
