Your Church Family:Preparing For Home

As we await the Lord’s return, God has entrusted on parents the responsibility of preparing the family for our heavenly home. E.G. White states, “every family is a church, over which the parents preside. The first consideration of the parents should be to work for the salvation of their children. When the father and mother as priest and teacher of the family take their position fully on the side of Christ, a good influence will be exerted in the home. And this sanctified influence will be felt in the church and will be recognized by every believer. . . . No man can bring into the church an influence that he does not exert in his home life and in his business relations” (CG 549)

In The Midst Of The Shortness Of Time

Beloved brethren, happy Sabbath. I must admit that last Sabbath seems like only yesterday. Surely, as prophesied in the Bible, our Lord is shortening the days. In the midst of the shortness of time, let us seek to fulfill daily, God’s purpose for our lives. Tony Morgan (2005) suggests that “eighty percent of peoples’ time should be spent doing what God has created them to do…The remaining 20 percent of their time should be spent fulfilling ‘roles’.” My role is that which I may not have the gift to perform, but as a Christian, it is my responsibility to perform such in service to my church and my God. In essence, every moment of our lives should be occupied with bringing glory to God.

Happy New Year

Happy Sabbath and happy New Year to all! E.G. White wrote, “How often your lips utter the kindly greeting, ‘I wish you a happy new year,’ and then in a few moments speak impatient, fretful words. How many children are ever ready to dispute about trifles, unwilling to make the smallest sacrifice for others? To such the New Year will bring no real happiness. They may indulge in boisterous mirth, but their hearts know no peace or joy. Will you not come with penitence and humility to Jesus that he may cleanse you from the impurity of sin, and fit you for his heavenly kingdom? All who do this will have the happiest New Year that they ever experienced. It will bring joy in Heaven and joy on earth.

Limping Towards The Finish Line

 Happy Sabbath Lighthouse!  On this the last Sabbath of the year 2012, we still find ourselves in a world filled with problems, doubts, worries, and fears.  However, if we are limping toward the 2012 finish line, the only ‘bad news’, one author notes, ‘is that time flies’.  The good news is that you’re NOT the Pilot.  With Jesus as our able Pilot, may we declare, ‘forward ever, backward never’.  May He ever lead us ‘in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake’.

The Salt And Light Of This World

Happy Sabbath servants of the Most High God!  Christ has commissioned and empowered us to be salt and lights in this sin sick world.  As we walk this Christian pathway, let us take our rightful place as salt and lights, leading sinners to Christ.  Ellen G. White states, “The light of heaven is to be reflected through Christ's followers to the world. This is the Christian's lifework - to direct the minds of sinners to God. The Christian's life should awaken in the hearts of worldlings high and elevated views of the purity of the Christian religion. This will make believers the salt of the earth, the saving power in our world; for a well-developed Christian character is harmonious in all its parts.
